    • Research on the Care of Older Adults with INtellectual Disability and Complex age-related Conditions.
  • Summary
    • Review the existing evidence base regarding the care of older adults with complex age-related conditions; Generate additional evidence regarding current models of care and additional evidence regarding expected future needs; Compare outcomes and quality of life in different care settings. Focus on the effectiveness of the different models regarding outcomes and quality of life and will also consider the cost implications of models.

    • SOOTHE: Responding to Mental Health Concerns in Middle and Older Aged People with Intellectual Disability
  • Summary
    • This project will address mental health and wellness among middle-aged and older people with an intellectual disability and develop interventions that can be used by individual in addressing their mental health needs. The project team, led by Prof. Fintan Sheerin, School of Nursaing & Midwifery Trinity College Dublin comprises of academics, researchers and technologists from Trinity College Dublin, and Hanze University, Groningen. Persons with intellectual disabilities, their carers and health professionals from Daughters of Charity Service (Dublin), San Joan de Deu (Barcelona) and COSIS (Groningen) will be involved in identifying the mental health issues and in the development of the interventions to address the issues identified.
