CSC - Trinity College Dublin Joint Scholarship Programme call for applications 2018

Trinity College Dublin have confirmed 10 scholarships for PhD positions as part of the China Scholarship Council.

This year it has been confirmed that we have 10 scholarships to award for PhD positions as part of the China Scholarship Council – Trinity College Dublin Joint Scholarship Programme. Each scholarship will include a full fee-waiver from Trinity, and a stipend for living costs (approximately €1,200 per month), airfare and health insurance, provided by the CSC.

This competition will be supported by the Global Relations Office, and I would like to invite you to submit applications from your school for Chinese applicants for full-time PhD programmes, to Ciara Rice at, by Friday 9th March 2018.

To be eligible for the scheme, students should have received an unconditional offer letter for their PhD position at Trinity College Dublin. Conditional offers letters may be accepted but only subject to meeting academic requirements (students must have met the English language requirement prior to application).

The offer letter must note that the fee-waiver is dependent upon the student successfully receiving the final award from the CSC. This offer letter may be issued by the Faculty Administrator. Candidates must also meet the criteria set out by the CSC, and must apply online to CSC between 20th March and 5th April 2018.

Applications from your school should be submitted to and should contain the following information:

  • Student online application number
  • Project proposal (max 2 page)
  • Brief biography of the supervisor (max 1 page)
  • Statement of how this project aligns with the Global Relations strategy for the School, and how this student’s application would be of benefit to the University.

The applications will first be reviewed by the Vice President for Global Relations and Faculty Deans. Schools will be notified of the final proposed allocation shortly after short-listing and nomination by CSC in late April 2018.

The Global Relations Office will hold a CSC Scholarship information session on Monday 11th December from 15:30 – 16:30 in the Global Room. We would be delighted if you could join us to hear more about this scholarship. Please contact for more information.

We would also encourage you to update your school’s webpage with details of the scholarship programme.
