Research Internship Programme with the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN)
The School of Nursing and Midwifery were delighted to host seven students from the worlds number one Nursing School on an eight week Internship Programme.
On the 20th of May 7 students from the University of Pennsylvania came to Trinity to participate in the Schools first research Internship Programme. The students were assigned to several different research projects and worked as part of that team for 8 weeks. The Internship programme ended on the 12th of July and the students have now returned to UPENN. The team here at the School very much enjoyed having the participants here were very sad to see them go.
The students themselves had this to say:
"In a word: brilliant. I have learned so much in the past 8 weeks from how to write a systematic literature review to what a career in research looks like to how spiritual care can be applied in everyday nursing. My PI's (named) have been so welcoming and supportive throughout my time here. They were very patient and willing to work at whatever pace we are comfortable and happy to answer questions. "
“Anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in nursing research would love this program. It is a perfect taste of what research is like, and there is also so much time after work and on the weekends to explore Dublin, Ireland, and Europe”
We look forward to running this programme with UPENN again next year.
